Local reporting with international context

Puerto Carreño News is an English-language publication about the people, places and developments shaping Puerto Carreño, Vichada and the wider Orinoco region. We write for readers abroad who want to understand this territory: travelers planning a visit, people considering a longer stay, entrepreneurs, prospective property buyers and others with a serious interest in local life.

Our purpose is to make local information understandable and useful across languages and borders. A place deserves more than a promotional description. Readers need reporting that explains who is involved, what has happened, what remains uncertain and why it matters.

Mission and coverage

We cover travel experiences, culture, food, local enterprise, nature, access and infrastructure, responsible tourism and regional developments. Property and investment reporting explains relevant context and documented opportunities without treating promotional claims as established facts.

Our coverage distinguishes the city of Puerto Carreño, its wider municipality, the department of Vichada and the surrounding region. International relevance can arise from a local producer’s work, a transport change, a conservation issue or a community initiative; it does not require a large or sensational event.

Editorial responsibility

David J. Wright directs the editorial work and is currently the sole editor. Articles identify their authors and publication dates. Reporting, analysis, opinion, institutional communications and commercial material must be distinguishable to readers.

Our editor follows the Trust Project’s editorial transparency standards. Our Publishing Principles, Policies and Standards explain how we handle sources, verification, corrections, feedback and conflicts of interest.

Our related websites

Puerto Carreño Online is our English-language destination and opportunity guide. Its evergreen information helps international readers explore the destination, plan visits and investigate relevant opportunities. Puerto Carreño News provides reporting and interpretation; Online provides stable practical guidance.

The Association’s institutional website and the Spanish-language Online and Al Día websites supply local information and context for adaptation. Shared reporting and translations are identified when used. Each site retains its own audience and publishing purpose.

Destination marketing describes the function of the coordinated English websites. It does not, by itself, establish another incorporated organization or confer public authority.

Funding and independence

Unify Cooperative will handle donations received for this work or announced projects. Any fundraising campaign must explain its purpose, recipient and contribution arrangements. We do not promise tax deductibility merely because the recipient is a cooperative.

Donations, partnerships, commercial services and possible referral arrangements must not purchase favorable reporting or suppress material facts. Relevant relationships are disclosed where they affect a reader’s assessment of a story or opportunity.
